Gary Ling

Instructor

My name is Gary Ling, I have always wanted to teach sports and went on to study sports development and coaching at Orpington college after leaving school. Boxing, football and swimming were my main interests and since working for the school I have learnt so much about swimming and teaching children in general. As well as completing my level 2 in swimming, I also have a National pool lifeguard qualification,Community sports leadership award, higher sports leadership award, basketball coaching level one and football coaching level one and two. I enjoy so much working for the school and voluntary work I have helped out with special needs children at Valence sports college, which was great experience that I have gained thanks to the school being so open to volunteers. I get a lot of satisfaction to see a child progressing with sport, swimming is great as you see a progression clearly, and what with 2012 coming up I have volunteered, so who knows what I will be involved in then.

Shelley Pickles

Instructor

An avid open water swimmer in my native South Africa, I re-discovered my passion for the water after my quest to get back into swimming and enjoy the water in the UK led me to Angela’s Swim School. Subsequently, I trained and qualified as an ASA Level 1 teacher in 2009. I have a special interest in Parent & Baby swimming and I hope to complete my ASA Level 2 as well as STA Baby & Preschool qualifications this year.

Instructor

My name is Paul, I have a varied sporting interest although I have a particular passion for swimming. I was a member of a Swimming Club for 9 years, during which time I won medals at county and regional level. I feel having previously taught people of all ages in other sports has enabled me to feel more at ease while teaching swimming, which in turn allows the swimmers to feel more comfortable in my presence.

I have worked as a PA for several years and joined the staff of Angelas Swim School in March 2009. I am a qualified customer service practitioner. My role is varied and i enjoy meeting challenges. I didn’t realise the importance of being able to swim until i enrolled my children with Angelas Swim School. Its by far the best thing i have done for them, knowing that they will safe and confident in water.
